About EBC
The Evergreen Basenji Club, founded in 1964, is the oldest existing local Basenji Club affiliated with the Basenji Club of America. Its membership consists of Basenji breeders, owners, and fanciers from the greater Seattle / Tacoma area.
The objectives of the Evergreen Basenji Club include:
To encourage and promote only the thoughtful and discriminate breeding of purebred Basenjis, to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection, and to discourage indiscriminate and commercial breeding.
To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard by which Basenjis shall be judged.
To participate as an Affiliate club of the Basenji Club of America (BCOA).
To encourage and promote the obedience, training and showing of Basenjis.
To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials, and lure trials.
To conduct all sanctioned events and specialty shows under the rules of the American Kennel Club, the American Sighthound Field Association, or other nationally recognized dog event governing bodies.
To disseminate information on the origin and characteristics of the breed and its approved standard; to encourage individuals to participate in all Club activities; to support all members with their problems in connection with the breed.
To do all possible to promote the principals of responsible dog ownership.
In addition, the club and its meetings encourage interchange of ideas and information, provide the opportunity for camaraderie, fellowship, and friendship among members and Basenji fanciers.
